When will it happen?

  • June 2008 – Outline Planning Application submitted
  • August 2008 – Consultant team (architects, engineers etc.) appointed.
  • September 2008 – On-site archaeological investigations commence.
  • December 2008 – Detailed (reserved matters) planning applications submitted.
  • May to November 2009 – Site enabling works (services diversions; remediation etc) take place.
  • March 2010 to September 2011 – Main building contract(s)  take place – construction of building “envelope”
  • September 2011 to May 2012 – Interior and specialist fit-out works contracts take place.
  • May & June 2012 – Birmingham City University specialist equipment installed.
  • June – September 2012 – Faculties migrate to first phase of new building.
  • 17 September 2012 – New academic year starts.
